Survival® Caregiver Course
Our comprehensive Caregiver Course, will teach you the skills required to look after patients and individuals needing care such as babies, the elderly; alzheimer/dementia patients, the terminally ill, paralysed patients, stroke survivors and so much more. To embark on your rewarding Caregiving career, you’ll need to complete a certified Caregiver Course. Led by our experienced Nursing Sisters, you’ll receive both practical and theoretical instruction, equipping you with the essential skills needed to excel in your Caregiving role. With 9 comprehensive modules, each conducted once a week for a full day over a span of 9 consecutive weeks, you’ll immerse yourself in a transformative learning experience. Gain confidence, competence, and the credentials you need to thrive as a Caregiver.
The Caregiver Course consists of 9 Modules:
- Module 1: Responsibilities of a Caregiver: Laws and regulations are essential for Caregivers to follow. These include maintaining privacy, adhering to medication procedures, and ensuring ethical conduct. Caregivers must also comply with professional standards to deliver the highest quality of care.
- Module 2: Caring for a Baby: You will learn about baby care; from general care, sleep, milestones and stimulation. You will also do practical sessions with a baby mannequin. Home safety is also included as part of this module.
- Module 3: Taking Care of the Elderly/Frail: We teach you all the aspects of taking care of the elderly, frail and senior care including dementia, delirium, skin health and care of the hands and feet.
- Module 4: Post-Surgery Care of a Patient: In this module you will learn about caring for a person after surgery, including assessing for signs of wound infections and aiding with mobility and wound care.
- Module 5: Symptoms of Various Illnesses: This module entails learning about frail care, bathing, signs and symptoms of various illnesses such as dehydration, diabetes, medications and more.
- Module 6: Palliative Care of a Patient: This module covers palliative care of terminal patients, and those with serious illness in a comfortable and pain free environment and providing respectful attentiveness for the patient & family.
- Module 7: Washing and Feeding a Patient: This module is important as you will learn how to wash a patient, from mouth care, to feeding and assisting a person with mobility issues. This will include class practical examples.
- Module 8: CPR and First Aid Course: This vital module teaches you how to handle an accident and how to handle all First Aid emergencies as well as life saving CPR skills. We are an Authorized American Heart Association training site.
- Module 9: Examinations for Theory & Practical: The examinations evaluates your understanding of all caregiver modules. It’s a crucial step in verifying your readiness to provide exceptional care and demonstrates your competence and commitment to delivering exceptional care.
- Practical Experience in a Frail Care Facility: After graduation, you’ll need to complete 168 hours of practical experience in a care facility within six months. This hands-on experience is essential to solidify your skills and knowledge. We’ll assist you in finding a suitable facility where you can gain valuable experience. This practical training serves as your final exam, and upon successful completion, you’ll receive your certification. Once certified, you’ll be well-prepared to provide quality care in a professional setting. Please note, we do not offer job placement.

Certification:
Caregiver Certificate
- Each participant will receive a Caregiver Course Certificate from Survival CPR® upon completion of all 9 modules and 168 practical hours in a frail care facility.
Survival CPR & First Aid Certificate
- Our CPR and First Aid course is a certified course. Survival CPR is accredited by American Heart Association as an Authorized American Heart Association training site.
